Junk Removal FAQ — Austin, TX
The questions Austin homeowners ask before they book, answered with our real prices and policies — no vague ranges.
How much does junk removal cost in Austin?
Most Austin jobs are priced by how much of the truck you fill: a 1/4 load runs $300–$350, a 1/2 load $500–$600, a 3/4 load $700–$800 and a full load $900–$1,050. Single items are priced individually instead — a couch is $150, a mattress $100, a refrigerator $175 and a washer or dryer $125. Labor, carry-out, landfill and transfer station fees, donation drop-offs and sweep-up are all included in the quoted price. Stairs, long carries and extremely heavy material like concrete or tile can add $25–$100 or more.
Is junk removal cheaper than renting a dumpster?
For most one-time cleanouts, yes. A dumpster rental means a permit on many Austin streets, a container sitting in your driveway for days, weight overage fees, and you still do all the lifting. With Capital Junk Removal you get one flat price starting at $300, we load everything ourselves, and the driveway is clear the same day. Dumpsters usually win only on long multi-week renovations where debris is generated continuously.
Do I need to be home for junk removal?
No. Plenty of our customers — especially property managers, realtors and out-of-town family handling an estate — leave the items in the garage, side yard or an unlocked unit and approve the quote by phone. We text photos before and after, and take payment remotely. If it is easier to meet us, jobs booked before noon usually get a same-day window between 7am and 7pm, Monday through Saturday.
What items won't junk removal companies take?
We cannot haul hazardous material: paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, asbestos, medical waste or propane tanks. Tires, some electronics and other county-restricted items can go but carry a disposal fee. Very heavy material such as concrete, dirt, rock, brick, tile and roofing shingles is accepted, but it is priced as extra-heavy disposal rather than by load volume. If you are unsure about something, call 737-226-3562 and we will tell you before the truck rolls.
How fast can junk removal happen in Austin?
Same day in most cases. Calls that come in before noon typically get a pickup window that afternoon anywhere in Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Leander, Kyle, Buda and the surrounding metro. Farther Hill Country addresses such as Dripping Springs, Driftwood and Liberty Hill are usually next-day. The job itself takes 30 minutes to a few hours depending on load size.
Can junk removal companies handle a full estate cleanout?
Yes. A small apartment or one-bedroom estate is typically a 3/4 load ($700–$800) and most full homes take a full load ($900–$1,050) or more. Multi-truck estate jobs are quoted as a single flat number before we start, and we sort for donation and recycling wherever possible. We do discreet estate and downsizing work regularly in Westlake, Tarrytown, Northwest Austin and Steiner Ranch.
